Garu Down Under is the first segment of the twenty-fifth episode of the television show Pucca. It first aired on May 4, 2007.

Synopsis[]

Garu lands in the Outback and becomes a lonely man's son against his will.

Plot[]

Pucca and friends are playing on a trampoline, which is mostly a chance for Pucca to steal kisses from Garu. Abyo tries to show off his own jumping abilities which Pucca takes as a challenge, though her jump launches them all into the air. Garu gets stuck on a plane which will take him all the way to Australia and as the rest of anxious to go after him, Pucca puts Ching and Abyo in a box to mail them across the world.

Flying over Australia, Garu drops off the plane and into the Outback. At the same time, a lonely emu farmer is bemoaning his lack of children when Garu crashes right in front of him. He believes him to be his much-wanted son and while Garu is mobbed by poisonous emus that cause him to swell up, the man is eager to adopt him into his way of life. Garu tries to make a break for it, but the farmer, mistaking him for a toddler, dissuades him from entering the Outback.

The Australian is intent on helping his "baby son" become a man; feeding him grubs and introducing him face-first to the poisonous environment of the Outback. Meanwhile, Pucca is making her way to Australia on foot, which includes running across the open ocean.

The Australian is showing Garu around his property, declaring it will all be his one day. The moment is ruined when he accidentally launches the ninja into the electric (and poisonous) fence. The two are approached by a gigantic spider but for once, the Australian declares this a harmless threat and uses the fearful Garu as a weapon to send the Arachnid running. Pucca finally arrives to Australia and patiently waits by the postbox for the others to arrive.

The Australian is taking Garu out to find crocodiles, then throws the ninja on top of one so he can wrestle it. This doesn’t go so well for Garu. Pucca is playing a didgeridoo when the postal service comes to drop off Abyo and Ching, though Abyo is less than pleased with the experience. Pucca whips out a metal detector and after setting it to Garu, the trio head into the outback to find their friend.

The Australian has dragged Garu to a rugby match and throws him in among the much bigger athletes. The man is so proud of his "son", paying no heed to the ninja being pummeled. Garu manages to escape the rugby players for a moment and must choose between facing them or being hugged by his "father". He chooses to fight his way past the heavily muscles athletes and make a break for it. Too bad he crashes into the electric (and poisonous) fence again, which halts his escape. Just as the Australian comes to reclaim him, Pucca and company ride in on dingoes to whisk Garu away. The Australian is outraged by the theft of his child and hops into a kangaroo's pouch to give chase.

As he's gaining on the kids, he throws boomerangs, almost causing Pucca to be left behind, though Garu saves her (to her joy). Unfortunately, their rescue attempt fails and Garu ends up in the hands of the Australian once again. But Pucca isn't done. Nearby, Santa is admiring the world's second-largest boomerang. Pucca takes hold of this and flings it right at the retreating Australian, separating him from Garu and whisking him off into the distance.

Back home in Sooga Village, Pucca is again waiting for the mail truck which drops off two packages. One contains Abyo and Ching, though the boy walks off in despair that his new title with be "Kung Fu Box Boy" while Ching teases him. The second box contains Garu who has once again been poisoned by the koala that was brought along in his box. Pucca pays no heed to his bloated form and kisses him anyway.
